Three things are easy to mix up when your center is new to Cohort:
  • A course is what you teach — for example IELTS Prep or Math Grade 5.
  • A fee plan is the price a course’s groups bill students on.
  • A group is one actual class of a course, with its own students, teacher, room and weekly schedule.
Adding a branch, a fee plan, a course or a room needs the owner or admin role. Managers can add staff, groups and students, but not those four — see Apps and roles.
1

Check your branch

Cohort already created your center’s main branch when it joined. Open Branches to see it, and add another only if your center has a second physical location.
2

Add a fee plan

Add a fee plan to set your pricing — a course needs one to bill its groups on.
3

Add a course

Add a course and choose the fee plan from the previous step. A course can’t be created without one.
4

Add a group

Add a group and choose the course from the previous step. A group can’t be created without one.
5

Add a student

Add a student and enroll them in the group from the previous step.
If your center has a single branch, leave Shared — all branches selected on both the fee plan and the course. A shared course can only use a shared fee plan — choose a specific branch for one but not the other, and the course form won’t list it.

Optional, but easier before groups

A group can have a teacher and meet in a room, but both can be left unset and added later from the group’s own page. If you’d rather have them ready first, add a staff member and add a room before step 4.
