Start with the outbox
1
Open the outbox
In the sidebar, select Notifications, then open the Outbox tab.
2
Narrow it down
Choose a period, Today, 7 days, 30 days or All time, and a status if you like.
3
Find the message
Look for the recipient’s name or phone number, and check its status.
Retry sends the same text to the same number again. The reason under a failed message isn’t translated: it’s in English, or in Russian when it comes from the SMS gateway.
If the message isn’t in the outbox at all, see “Nothing in the outbox” at the end of this page.
Common causes
The template isn't approved
The template isn't approved
SMS gateways in Uzbekistan only deliver text they’ve approved in advance. Each time a template is saved, Cohort sends its text to the gateway for approval. Until it’s approved, messages using that text fail, and the reason in the outbox says, in Russian, that the text hasn’t passed moderation. To check, open the Templates tab. A template that can’t be sent yet has an icon next to it. Select the template to see its status under SMS gateway approval:
- In review: the gateway is still checking the text. Wait until it’s Approved, then select Retry on the failed messages.
- Rejected: the gateway refused the text. Change the text, then select Save template. Saving the same text again won’t help.
- Not submitted: Cohort couldn’t reach the gateway. Open the template and select Save template again.
SMS is switched off
SMS is switched off
At the top of the Notifications page, the owner sees SMS off. While SMS is off:
- Rules don’t create messages, and those messages aren’t sent later, even after SMS is switched back on.
- Messages that were already Queued wait, and go out once SMS is on again.
The daily cap was reached
The daily cap was reached
The Settings tab can set a Daily cap (messages). At the top of the page, the owner sees how many messages went out today against the cap, for example 120 / 120 today.Once the cap is reached, Cohort holds the rest back: they stay Queued and go out from the start of the next day. Raising the cap doesn’t send them any sooner. To change the cap, the owner enters a new number in Daily cap (messages), or leaves it empty for no cap, then selects Save.
“SMS is enabled but nothing can send — the provider details are incomplete.”
“SMS is enabled but nothing can send — the provider details are incomplete.”
SMS is on, but Cohort has no working SMS account to send from, so messages fail. At the top of the page, the owner sees SMS misconfigured. If your center uses its own Eskiz account, check Provider login and Provider secret on the Settings tab. Otherwise, contact Cohort support.
The phone number is wrong
The phone number is wrong
The message failed, and the reason names the phone number it tried. Correct the number on the student’s or guardian’s record. Messages from then on go to the new number.Retry won’t help for a message that already failed: it sends to the same old number.
Nothing in the outbox
If the message isn’t in the outbox at all, Cohort never created it. This happens when:- SMS was switched off at the time.
- The rule is off. On the Rules tab, check that the rule’s switch is on. A rule that’s off sends nothing.
- The recipient has no phone number. Who receives a message depends on the rule’s Recipients. Messages for a Parent go to the student’s primary guardian, so a student with no primary guardian, or whose primary guardian has no phone, gets nothing. See Manage guardians.
