# Complete or cancel a group

> End a group — either because it finished as planned or because it's stopping early — and see what happens to its remaining classes.

By default, owners and admins can complete or cancel a group.

<Note>
  Don't see this page or button? Your role doesn't include it. Ask your center's owner or an admin to give you the role you need.
</Note>

<Note>
  These actions are only available while a group is **Planned** or **Active**. Once a group is **Completed** or **Cancelled**, Cohort no longer offers them.
</Note>

## End the group

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the group's actions">
    In the sidebar, select **Groups**, select the group, then select the **Group actions** menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose how it's ending">
    Select **Mark as completed** if the group finished its course as planned, or **Cancel group** if it's ending early.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Select **Mark completed** or **Cancel group** to confirm.

    <Warning>
      Every class that hasn't been held yet is cancelled, and this can't be undone. Classes that already took place — including earlier ones today — are kept, along with their attendance and marks.
    </Warning>
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What happens to students

Completing or cancelling a group doesn't change anyone's enrollment — students stay enrolled in it. If you also need to remove them, see [suspend, drop or reactivate an enrollment](/en/admin/groups/suspend-drop-or-reactivate-an-enrollment).

## What's next

* Select **Invoices for this group** from the same **Group actions** menu to see its billing.
