# Create a discount

> Create a reusable discount, as a percentage or a fixed amount, that you can apply to invoices or attach to enrollments.

Create a discount once, then use it as a one-off on individual invoices or as a standing discount on enrollments — see [discount types](/en/admin/discounts/discount-types).

By default, only owners and admins can create discounts.

## Create the discount

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the form">
    In the sidebar, select **Discounts**, then select **New discount**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it">
    Enter a **Discount name** you'll recognize later, such as *Sibling discount* or *Autumn promo*.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the type and value">
    Choose **Type** — **Percentage** or **Fixed amount** — then enter **Value**. A percentage can't go over 100; a fixed amount is in UZS.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a promo code (optional)">
    Enter a **Promo code** if you want one — no two discounts can share the same code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set a validity window (optional)">
    Choose **Valid from** and/or **Valid until** to limit when the discount can be applied. Leave either blank for no limit on that side.

<Note>
  To change a discount or turn it off, select the pencil button on it in the list, update the fields — including **Status** — and select **Save discount**. A discount can't be deleted, only turned off, and turning it off doesn't change invoices or enrollments it's already applied to.
