# Add a course

> Create a course and set the fee plan its groups will bill on.

A course is the subject or curriculum offering a group is based on — for example "IELTS Prep" or "Math Grade 5". By default, only owners and admins can add courses.

  Don't see this page or button? Your role doesn't include it. Ask your center's owner or an admin to give you the role you need.

## Add the course

  <Step title="Open the form">
    In the sidebar, select **Courses**, then select **New course**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the course's name and branch">
    Enter the **Course name**, and choose the **Branch** it belongs to, or select **Shared — all branches** to offer it everywhere.

  <Step title="Choose a fee plan">
    Choose the **Fee plan** every group under this course will bill on. A **Shared** course only offers shared plans; a branch course offers shared plans plus that branch's own.

      If nothing's listed, select **Create fee plan**. It takes you to the Fee Plans page and away from this form, so anything you've entered here is lost — finish adding the course afterward. See [add a fee plan](/en/admin/fee-plans/add-a-fee-plan).

    **Level**, **Default duration (weeks)** and **Description** help tell similar courses apart later, but none are required.
