# How branches work

> Which branch's data each role sees, and when a course can be shared across every branch instead of belonging to one.

A branch is one of your education center's physical locations — a campus. If your center runs classes at more than one location, this page explains whose data each role sees across branches, and what it means for a course to be shared instead of tied to one branch.

## Who sees what

| Role | What they see |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Every branch, always. |
| **Admin** / **Manager** | Only the branches their role was assigned to — one branch, several, or, if granted **All branches**, every branch. |
| **Teacher** / **Student** | Their own classes and enrollments, regardless of branch — not everything happening at a branch. A teacher covering a class at a branch they don't normally work at still sees it. |

If your center has more than one branch, a branch switcher appears at the top of the screen. It lists only the branches you can access, and lets you choose which ones' data to view — list screens narrow to your selection.

<Note>
  A shared course, fee plan or notification rule always shows up in lists, no matter which branches you've selected — it isn't tied to any one of them.
</Note>

## Shared vs. branch-only courses

When you [add a course](/en/admin/courses/add-a-course), choose a specific **Branch**, or select **Shared — all branches**:

* A **Shared — all branches** course is visible and can be used from every branch.
* A course tied to one **Branch** can only be used from that branch.

<Tip>
  The fee plan has to match: a shared course only offers shared fee plans, while a branch course offers shared plans plus that branch's own.
</Tip>

Groups don't work the same way — a group always belongs to exactly one branch and can't be made shared.
